Grade Two

Second grade is a time of growing confidence, independence, and curiosity. Children begin to see more clearly the contrasts in the world—light and shadow, mischief and virtue—and are met with fables and legends that speak to these inner discoveries.

Core academics continue through story-rich, hands-on learning. In language arts, children deepen skills in handwriting, reading, and early composition. Math expands to include more complex addition and subtraction, and simple multiplication and division. Animal studies and seasonal exploration nurture observation and connection to the natural world.

Our days include movement, music, painting, form drawing, and handwork, all of which support healthy development and creativity. With a strong rhythm, warm guidance, and plenty of time outdoors, second graders continue to learn through doing–building a joyful and meaningful foundation for the grades ahead.
