Back to Earth School is seeking a warm, dependable, and nurturing teacher to join our Early Childhood program for the 2026/27 school year. The ideal candidate brings a calm, joyful presence, a deep love for young children, and a willingness to lead the class by creating a beautiful, rhythmic, and nurturing environment. Our early childhood program is rooted in play, nature connection, and intentional simplicity.
Located on eight wooded acres in the heart of Oklahoma City, Back to Earth School is home to a vibrant and supportive community of teachers and families. Our Early Childhood program is guided by Waldorf-inspired principles and values outdoor exploration, practical work, and the slow unfolding of childhood.

School Schedule:
August 24, 2026, to May 21, 2027
In class hours:
Tuesday and Thursday 8:00 am to 4:00 pm
Out of class hours:
Team Meetings, In-Service Days, Professional Development, and School Festivals

Lead the daily, weekly, and seasonal rhythm of the kindergarten program
Create a warm, nurturing, and orderly classroom environment that reflects beauty, simplicity, and seasonal rhythms
Guide children through imaginative play, circle time, storytelling, songs, movement, practical work, gardening, and outdoor exploration
Observe and support the social, emotional, and developmental needs of each child
Maintain student records, including attendance, observations, conference notes, and developmental documentation
Prepare end-of-year narrative reports
Communicate regularly with families, including monthly classroom updates and parent conferences
Work collaboratively with the Kindergarten Assistant, faculty leadership, and families to support each child's development
Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, festivals, and school events
Support classroom preparation, care, and maintenance throughout the year
Uphold and enforce school policies and professional expectations

Waldorf Early Childhood training, Lifeways training, or willingness to pursue training preferred
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Early Childhood Education preferred
Red Cross/CPR First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain)
A warm, attentive, and joyful presence with young children
Strong communication and collaboration skills
Commitment to the mission and guiding principles of Back to Earth School
Ability to cultivate healthy partnerships with families
A love of nature and comfort working outdoors in all weather
Commitment to ongoing professional growth and learning

Prolonged periods of standing, walking, and floor-sitting with children
Ability to lift, carry, and engage in physical work (up to 50 lbs)
Willingness to be outside with children in all seasons
Salary is based on education and experience.
