Back to Earth School is seeking a warm, capable, and reliable substitute to guide our third-grade class during the first 12 weeks of the 2025/26 school year while the lead teacher is on maternity leave. The ideal candidate will bring a strong sense of presence, classroom leadership, and a deep respect for the unique developmental stage of third graders. This is a beautiful opportunity to support a thoughtful transition for students during a meaningful part of the school year.

Our school is located on eight wooded acres in the heart of Oklahoma City and supported by a vibrant community of parents, teachers, and children. Grades classes benefit from rich subject offerings and generous time outdoors. We are seeking someone who can uphold our heart-centered, holistic approach to learning and who enjoys working collaboratively as part of a dedicated team.

School Schedule: 

September 2, 2025, to November 21, 2025

In class hours: 

Monday-Thursday  8:00 am to 4:00 pm 

Out of class hours: 

Team Meetings, In-Service Days, and School Festivals 

• A BA in education or a related field

• Prior classroom experience (lead or assistant)

• Strong classroom management skills

• A calm and consistent presence

• Familiarity with Waldorf education, or a willingness to learn

• Commitment to nurturing the whole child

• Ability to follow an existing curriculum and adapt as needed

• Clear, professional communication with parents and colleagues

• Collaborative spirit and a growth mindset
  

• Willingness to be outdoors in all weather

• Ability to engage in the physical work of teaching in an outdoor setting
